Everything you need to know about Summer fashion trends 2020

Summer 2020 fashion trends almost became irrelevant due to the health crisis but as lockdown eases and we head back into public view I thought I’d do a quick review of everything you need to know about all the Summer 2020 fashion trends.

Of course, our lens is fixed on Pop, however, in spite of our bias I hope to show you how hard working Pop designs are, meaning you can often tick several trend boxes with one top or dress. Spend less and get maximise your cost-per-wear! Also knowing what the trends are means you can pick out styles in your wardrobe that you may already have without needing to buy new clothes, great for sustainability!

Sometimes we all want to feel relvant without clinging to trends in the old-fashioned sense when we would force ourselves into a shape or colour even though it didn’t suit us.

These are the Summer 2020 fashion trends:

Neon, summer whites, trench coats, shades of blue, tropical, cut outs and sheer, shirts, craft and seventies inspired.

Neon: You might be pleasently surprised how flattering and joyful neon tones can be, they lift our skin and mood. Did this trend know we were going into lockdown and that we’d need it to cheer up afterwards? Style notes: our hula hoop print ticks the neon, seventies inspired and sheer trends and the yellow broderie Anglaise styles also falls into both neon and seventies trends.

Summer Whites: The epitome of Summer chic, Summer whites are an easy go-to style. You can keep your accessories neutral or go for a pop of colour. The belt on our Tweet Bird Shirt Dress can be removed so you can try it with another style.

Style notes: Our Tweet Bird White Shirt ticks three trends: Summer whites, shirts and craft as it is screen printed. And if you wear our Off Shoulder Cotton Jumper with the Floral Print Midi Skirt you will again be a walking supertrender (is that even a word?!).

Cut Outs and sheer: Cut outs and sheer aren’t for the introverts but maybe I can persuade even you? Our sexy yet laidback Safari Shirt Dress has sheer cut out panels (tick, tick!) but it also has sleeves and is midi length for grown up glamour. Pop designs include many semi- sheer styles as they are more wearable. We have chiffon blouses and tunics and our silk blend styles have lining only in the skirt portion to give a cool, lightness to the sleeves and body.

Trench: A real wardrobe staple and fashion classic the trench coat made another comback in the Summer 2020 trends but was it ever out? We have two beautiful classic trench styles with a versatile contemporary design. Coming in two shades of gold and two lengths you can find the colour and length that works for you. The Taffeta fabric that we use is soft and slightly glossy making our trench coat also perfect as a dress.

Shirts and Blue Crush - all shirts but blue shirts in particular and blue jeans are also a major Summer 2020 trend. Blue tops in tones that match or compliment the spectrum of indigo in denim is also big in Summer 2020. You might already have one but our Preppy Contrast Collar Blouse in a soft aquamarine is heavenly and the crepe drapes like silk. Other beautiful blue Pop designs you could try include our indigo print styles in crisp cotton.

Tropical: lush foliage is big news this season. Tropical trends are a regular pick for designers around the world so check your wardrobe. If there’s a tropical print gap in your life consider our Lagoon Shimmer Tunic or Kaftan for gem-like tones of blue complimented with gold foil in the print that shimmers in the light. Or try the Jade Garden Cotton Tie Blouse for a super lightweight voile that you can barely feel on hot Summer days. Our Blooming Wild range of styles tick both the Summer white and tropical trends and the Floral Print Off Shoulder Midi Dress With Ruffles ticks yet another trend - Craft, due to the pom poms at the end of the belt.

If you live near our boutique we have many tropical designs that aren’t currently available online.

Hope that helps!
