Fabric of Freedom: a mini exhibition at Pop boutique

To mark the seventy fifth anniversary of the independence of Pakistan and India, we are hosting a mini exhibition at our boutique in London celebrating Khadi fabric.

Khadi means hand spun and hand woven cloth and was promoted by freedom fighters as a form of non-violent civil disobedience against British colonial rule. Pop designer, Shazia has been working with Khadi fabric for over a decade and the exhibition showcases designs from her archive celebrating Khadi cotton, cashmere and ahimsa or peace/vegan silk.

This year also marks the seventy fifth anniversary of partition, the break up of India into India and Pakistan. Indian Summer by Alex von Tunzelmann is a beautifully written book on the subject.

The Fabric of Freedom exhibition will take place at Pop London boutique, 43 Ebury Bridge Road, SW1w 8DX until 31 August 2022.
