Top 5 Face Oil Recommendations

We can’t get enough of face oils and here are our Top 5 for all budgets. If you are 30+ you really should incorporate a face oil into your daily care routine. Rub a few of drops in your hands to warm and glide across your clean face and neck. Allow it to settle for as long as possible (30 seconds) before applying moisturiser.

First up is The Ordinary range. One of favourite boys in the world has a bedroom that looks like The Ordinary shop in Covent Garden and he has the smoothest 42 yo face of a thousand baby angels. If you are a beginner to the cheaper Deciem range then we suggest you start with the 2% Hyaluronic acid. We love the no-nonsense packaging and the £5.90 price is fabulous. You can wear this in the morning or at night, moisturiser sticks to it and makeup can be applied without splitting. Same price at Boots if you have points to spend. If you get a little red-faced and want to tone down that Whisky Addict look then try The Ordinary Borage Seed Oil at £4.20.

Next is Moonlight Nectar for a nighttime treat. Honestly, we love every product sold by Nini Organics and the website is full of fabulous tips and recommendations. This oil is £62 with free P&P although if you live in North London it is definitely worth travelling to the shop in Wood Green as the staff are simply wonderful and all I can say is - look at their glowing skin - you definitely want some of that! Nini Organics sell only handmade organic vegan products but the best thing I love about them is all of their products smell incredible. Moonlight Nectar is divine, it smells and feels a lot more expensive than its price tag and is now a firm favourite.

Votary is our next recommendation. Their Super Seed Facial Oil is amazing and sinks right into my parched skin. It might be a little oily to use in the morning for some of you so you might like to keep it for the evening. However, I use it in the mornings and it’s fine, just takes a few more seconds to settle before I add moisturiser. Votary have a night oil too at twice the price that includes retinoid but honestly, I love the green packaging for this cute little bottle that I can’t move over to the night oil. £70 and lasts forever. A good Votary dupe for anyone with spotty skin is Disciple’s Good Skin oil. A mere £23 for fabulously clear skin, whom amongst us hasn’t been horrified by adult acne? Zap it with this.

Creme de la Mer get a lot of stick for their products as being a little over the top. Honestly, I have tried so many of their products and would only recommend 1-2 of them. Their Renewal Oil is one of them. It’s a hefty £180 for only 30ml but it does last a long time. A little greasier than other oils, I like to save it for nighttime and call me naff but when my face knows it’s soaking up something that, Queen of the Glow, J-Lo uses I am ready to look my best the next morning. Nothing special about the smell for this one, it is purely functional but my god, does it function! A cheaper alternative at £58 is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum, you have probably heard of this classic oil and don’t need me to tell you it is great but I will add that it’s a far superior product to the Kiehl’s version which is in a similar price range.

Last up in our Top 5 is a cheapy - we love the brand Garden of Wisdom and its Niacinamide Serum, which is a great anti-ageing face oil for morning and night. It is only a tenner and really packs a punch. This product is in the no frills range like The Ordinary and the labels are clinical and full of chemistry. It has become a best seller and that is because it works. Nothing special about the smell but hey, it’s a tenner. If you haven’t heard of this brand, we suggest you do a little googling as there is bound to be something for you. I love their Vitamin C serum too but that is another blog!

Enjoy the glow!
